Worldpay declares war on cash register

Worldpay is threatening to make the manual cash register obsolete with a new payment device. The payment processor claims that its all-in-one tablet-based till will completely change how small business owners collect and reconcile payments in stores.

My Business Hub consolidates the cash register, payment device and receipt printer into an

integrated payment device. This helps automate reconciliation of cash and card payments and reduce end-of-day admin, saving small business owners time. The portable device also allows businesses to accept payment anywhere in store, enabling more personalised or curated selling.

“Great technology should not be the preserve of large companies,” said Dave Hobday, managing director, Worldpay UK. “My Business Hub sits at the heart of our strategy to provide small business owners with access to the tools and support they need to grow.”

“We are challenging consumer perceptions of small businesses, enabling them to provide a more personalised service,” continued Hobday.

Worldpay’s My Business Hub was developed in partnership with point-of-sale company Unique Secure, which is responsible for the Hub’s design. Lenovo provided the tablet hardware optimised for use with the Hub.

David Rimer, CEO, Unique Secure commented: “Unique Secure is renowned for our design-led innovation. This partnership maps onto our strategy of revolutionising the global point-of-sale space, giving more flexibility and functionality to retailers of all sizes.”

My Business Hub is currently available on a limited basis, with a full roll-out expected in summer 2016.
