C-SAM and StarHub, Singapore’s fully integrated info-communication company announced the newest update to the SmartWallet mobile app which will enable near field communication (NFC) peer-to-peer (P2P) mobile ticketing services. The mobile ticketing innovation is the world’s first NFC mobile wallet with P2P redemption of movie tickets.
Starting April 6, 2013, StarHub’s SmartWallet will allow customers to purchase Shaw Theatres movie tickets with their NFC-enabled mobile phones and then redeem these digitally stored entrance tickets with a single tap of the phone on a contactless reader at the cinema.
With SmartWallet customers are able to make secure NFC payment and redeem digital coupons conveniently with their NFC-enabled smartphones at partner merchants across Singapore. Currently, SmartWallet offers three contactless payment card options: credit card, pre-paid card and an ePurse transit card. StarHub is the first mobile operator in the Asia Pacific region to commercially offer a comprehensively-bundled NFC digital wallet on a mobile device for Singapore consumers.
“When we launched SmartWallet late last year, customers were the first in Singapore to enjoy the benefits of making secure contactless payment and redeeming digital coupons conveniently at partner merchants across Singapore,” comments Ms Yeong Mun-Ling, Vice President of Business Strategy at StarHub.
“To augment our customers’ experience and offer them greater convenience, we are pleased to enhance SmartWallet with the world’s first comprehensive NFC-based movie ticketing service, allowing StarHub Mobile customers to browse and book the available show times at their favourite Shaw Theatres anytime, anywhere, as well as collect movie tickets with a single tap of their NFC-enabled smartphone.”
