Having recently launched in France, Orange has launched of Orange Cash in Spain, a
rechargeable prepaid card from MasterCard that can be used within smartphones or as a traditional payment card.
With Orange Cash a consumer will be able to make online payments, send money to the mobile phones of other Orange Cash users for free and, using the traditional prepaid card, pay any merchant or withdraw cash at ATMs worldwide.
Use of Orange Cash does not require a bank account, and it works with all the telephone numbers of every Spanish carrier. The mobile app is compatible with mobile phones on both Android and Apple iOS operating systems.
Even if you lose your phone, Orange Cash is always available through the website. There, users can enter a username and password and download the Orange Cash App onto another device, enabling access to their funds.
In addition, the Orange Cash prepaid card is contactless-enabled, so users can make tap and go payments at nearly 2 million contactless-enabled merchant locations in 63 countries around the world. To pay at merchant locations that are not contactless-enabled, the card also maintains the option of payment using the EMV chip or the magnetic stripe.
“With this launch we keep adapting ourselves to the preferences and needs of Spanish consumers, who live in a more digital way every day. Now consumers pay and make their purchases in a way that better fits with their needs and from any available device,” says Ovidio Egido, country manager for MasterCard Spain.
Orange Cash is another step within our efforts to introduce innovative payment solutions in our country and to answer to this new reality.”
