Nissan joins in-car payments trailblazers with Brazilian roll-out

Following on from recent announcements by BMW and Daimler in the automotive payments arena Sem Parar, a subsidiary of Fleetcor, has partnered with Nissan in Brazil for in-car payments.

Under the agreement, all new Nissan vehicles will be equipped with RFID tags to enable drivers to make contactless in-car payments for various services, vehicles produced in Brazil will also come auto-fitted with Sem Parar electronic payment stickers. The agreement extends to the used cars in the Nissan dealerships.

Around 50,000 Nissan vehicles are produced each year in Brazil and the company expect to increase the production by 50,000 to 100,000 by 2022.

The RFID equipped vehicles will be available from 2019 for customer use. Consumers who activate the feature can use contactless payments in all tollbooths in Brazil, 650 gas stations, 1,300 parking lots and 300 dive through’s in Brazil.
