Multi-channel retailing was named as the biggest payment challenge facing retailers by nearly half (47%) of respondents to Ingenico Group’s survey at this year’s RBTE.
Ingenico has revealed the results of its survey carried out at this year’s Retail Business Technology Exhibition (RBTE), highlighting that the biggest payment challenge facing UK retailers over the next five years is the ability to provide customers with options to pay across multiple devices and channels.
In addition to multi-channel payments, the survey highlighted retailers’ ability to accept
new payment methods as the second most important payment challenge facing them (named by 35%), followed by payment security (18%).
Lee Jones, Director of UK Sales and Business Development, Multi-Channel Services for Ingenico said: “Our experience at this year’s RBTE shows us that the challenge of being able to offer truly multi-channel payment solutions is really beginning to keep retailers up at night. With the proliferation of new payment methods, devices and channels, providing customers with as many secure payment options as possible is becoming increasingly complex.
“Consumers want a fast, simple and secure purchasing experience whether they are in-store, at home or on the go, whatever the device or technology. As a result, merchants need to provide consumers with a simple and seamless purchasing experience for all distribution channels. Ingenico’s own cross-channel offering makes this possible.”
As Europe’s biggest and fastest growing retail solutions event, RBTE this year attracted more than 350 exhibitors and over 12,000 visitors.
