Google is rumoured to start the Android Pay, digital payment service, using smartphones in Japan
as early as autumn, in cooperation with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, sources close to the matter say.
The Android Pay service will be able to be used for shopping in partnering stores in Japan and overseas, via devices using Google’s Android operating system, including smartphones.
Google launched the digital payment platform in the US in autumn 2015. It has already expanded the service to Britain, Australia and Singapore.
Android Pay will be available by installing a dedicated application to devices with NFC functions.
