Kum & Go convenience stores and Rite Aid Corp. are among the growing number of merchants to become MCX members.

MCX is a group of leading merchants dedicated to improving the shopping experience by offering consumers a widely accepted, customer-focused and secure mobile-commerce platform.

Kum & Go, Giant Eagle and Rite Aid continue to expand MCX’s national and regional presence in fuel, grocery, convenience retail and pharmacy chains, while ExxonMobil brings the world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company into MCX.

With these new member additions, more than 50 merchants are now part of MCX, representing over 100,000 locations and more than $1 trillion in payments annually.

“Mobile payments will dramatically enhance the buying experience of our customers,” comments John Rhodes, Americas retail director at ExxonMobil. “We look forward to helping make the simplicity and security of mobile payments a reality for customers throughout the country.”

“We are seeing tremendous interest and momentum with new merchants, large and small, coming on board to work together to offer a mobile-commerce solution that will best serve the needs of customers and merchants alike,” continues Dekkers Davidson, CEO, MCX. “Both nationally and locally, MCX merchants have unparalleled knowledge of the shopping experience, making MCX uniquely qualified to build and improve upon the current mobile payment options available in the marketplace.”

Founded in 2012, Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX) is building a widely accepted, customer-focused and secure mobile payment solution that will deliver a better payment and shopping experience for customers and merchants alike.

Backed by leading merchants, including Kmart, Olive Garden and Southwest Airlines, MCX’s owner-members include leaders in the big-box, convenience, pharmacy, fuel, grocery, quick- and full-service dining, specialty-retail and travel categories. The company operates from offices in Dallas and Boston.
