Barclays Bank of Kenya has launched a mobile banking App (BarclaysKenya) with similar functionality to its full online banking platform. The App is free to use and will be accessed by customers who have already registered successfully for Barclays internet Banking.
It will be available on the App store for upload on both tablets and mobile devices running on Android and Apple.
The BarclaysKenya App signifies a major step in applying the latest technologies to improve accessibility of Kenyans to financial services.
“The Kenyan mobile banking arena is also fast developing and shaping the landscape of cashless transactions exponentially and this App is aimed at ensuring that convenience is key when carrying out bank transactions through internet banking services,” says Jeremy Awori, MD, Barclays Bank of Kenya. “Our customers will not have to queue for long hours so as to be served instead the click of a button will do the magic.”
Customers will be able to view their balances and the most recent transactions, make transfers between accounts and pay bills. it will also offer customers access their credit card and loan transactions real time which is a first in the industry.
BarclaysKenya App follows the mass adoption of its Pingit app in the UK, which allows users to make and receive payments with just a mobile number. Pingit was first introduced in the UK in February 2012.
